Our Mission
The Wind Institute's primary focus is on (but not limited to) the Clinical and Practical Applications of Reiki and Energetic Therapies. Our mission is to educate the public on what Reiki is and the benefits it has on all levels of not only people, but the environment as well. We choose to embrace every opportunity to assist in the expansion of people's awareness through lecture, demonstrations, classes and private sessions. It brings us great joy in seeing our student's and client's rapid improvements in mental and physical health and hearing stories of how they overcame each of their personal obstacles.
Our Founder
The Wind Institute of Healing and Meditative Arts was founded by Nicole Dockins, (formerly Nicole Coleman-Riddle) Reiki Master Teacher of Usui Shiki Ryoho and Usui Komyo Ryoho methods. Since 1998, Nicole has devoted her life to Reiki and the pursuit of her education in Alternative and Natural Healing. In addition to her extensive knowledge of Reiki, Nicole has trained in Chakra Therapy, Crystal Therapy, the Native American Medicine Ways, Childhood Development, Parenthood Education, and Veterinary Sciences and obtained 5 years of Nutrition and Culinary Arts.
Nicole has worked many years in Alternative & Mental Health Care Facilities, Medical Offices, Spas and Veterinary Hospitals offering her insight to specific conditions and allowing her to understand her clients needs. Her experience has enabled her to formulate specific advanced techniques to enhance her practice, and your experience.
Nicole has lectured and presented her practices, methods and theories at numerous events, corporate health fairs, mind-body- spirit expos, GREEN Living expositions, spiritual fairs, gatherings, churches and private functions throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Ohio. Nicole is a member of the International Association of Reiki Practioners (IARP), Carolina Reiki Association (CRA), the National Reiki and Spiritual Healing Coalition (NRSHC), Healing International and the Travelers Rest Area Business Association (TRABA).

Code of Ethics
The Wind Institute of Healing & Meditative Arts strives to maintain a professional atmosphere at all times. All Therapists and staff members are honor bound to uphold a code of ethics out of respect for our clients, our associates, our peers and for our selves. Therefore, each therapist hereby agrees to:
1. Maintain our Privacy Policy. Any information disclosed within the context of a session remains confidential between the client and therapist unless the client signs a waiver permitting otherwise.
2. Provide a safe, private and comfortable setting for sessions and/or classes and work to provide a supportive and empowering environment for clients & students.
3. Always treat clients and students with respect and honor.
4. Maintain pure and clear intentions of offering services for the highest good and healing of the client, and the highest potential of the student.
5. Provide a brief oral or written description of what to expect during sessions and what occurs during that process before a client's initial session. In regards to classes, to provide a clear syllabus for each degree (level) of Reiki prior to the class and a list of what the student should be able to accomplish upon completion.
6. Be respectful of others' Reiki Views and Practices.
7. Educate both clients and students on the value of Reiki and explain that sessions DO NOT guarantee a cure nor are they a substitute for qualified medical or professional care. Reiki is
only one part of an integrative healing or wellness program. (*See Company Policy)
8. Suggest a consultation or refer clients to a qualified licensed professionals when appropriate.
(i.e.: Medical Doctor, Specialist, Licensed Therapist etc.)
9. Never diagnose or prescribe nor suggest that a client/student change prescribed treatments or interfere with the treatment of a licensed health care provider.
10. Be sensitive to the boundaries of individual clients and students.
11. Never ask the client (or students) to disrobe (unless in the context of a licensed massage therapy session which will then remain optional. *At The Wind Institute of Healing & Meditative Arts,
your modesty will be well maintained at all times. You will NEVER be asked to disrobe, unless partaking in a massage with a Licensed Massage Therapist.
12. Work to create harmony and friendly cooperation between Reiki Practitioners/ Master Teachers in the community and represent ourselves in a most professional manner.
13. Act as a beacon in our community by doing the best job possible.
14. Work to empower our students to heal themselves and encourage and assist them in the development of their work with Reiki or their Reiki practices.
15. Actively work on our own healing process so as to embody and fully express the essence of Reiki & all Healing and Meditative Arts.
*Our Code of Ethics is based on the Code of Ethics provided by the International Association of Reiki Practitioners (IARP), and amended respectively to include our own vow to you the client and student.
Each of our students is expected to also maintain this Code of Ethics respectively.
Our Policy Updated 2009
1. I understand that in scheduling sessions, I will be held personally and financially responsible for all appointments and/ or additional fee's that may be incurred during the course of my visit at The Wind Institute of Healing & Meditative Arts.
2. Please note that our therapists work on commission only and all services are By Appointment. So out of respect for our therapists and our clients we request that appointment changes be made with at least a 24 hour notice. Contact MUST be made with us directly, please do NOT E-mail requests or cancellations. "No Shows" and Late Cancellations may be held financially responsible for up to 100% of their scheduled visit.
3. NEW CLIENTS: We understand that circumstances may not allow you to appear for your appointment, however, please keep in mind, appointments may only be changed twice, after which either no more appointments will be scheduled or advanced payment will be required on ALL appointments and will be NON-REFUNDABLE.
4. Clients cancelling or rescheduling more than twice within a 3 month period may interfere with their wellness plans and will be required to start their treatments (and fee schedules) from the beginning. Clients may also be subject to fee's as outlined in number 2.
5. Clients who appear late for their appointments may be seen for the remaining time of their appointment at the therapist's discretion, but will be charged for the full scheduled session.
6. We gladly accept CASH, CHECKS, MASTER CARD, VISA, AMEX, DISCOVER and PAYPAL at this time and payment is due at the time services are rendered.
7. Returned or NSF checks will result in a charge of $35.00 and loss of check acceptance privileges.
8. NO REFUNDS will be made under any circumstances on any service or product. Though we are not obligated to do so, in some cases (services) we will be glad to issue a credit for future use by you or transfer to someone else in the form of a Gift Certificate. Please keep in mind, Gift Certificates and credits will expire after 60 days unless specified otherwise.
9. The Therapists and Instructors of The Wind Institute reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service at any time and for any reason with out notice and is not obligated to disclose an explanation for his or her decision.
10. Neither The Wind Institute nor its staff members can be responsible for the outcome of any session. Reiki and Energetic Therapy sessions are intended for relaxation purposes only. These sessions are not intended to be used for diagnostic purposes, nor to replace or under mind standard medical treatment by licensed medical practitioners. The therapeutic benefits and effects related to Reiki and other natural methods are still being researched and have not been proven or disproved. The effects of Reiki are determined by the client's willingness and level of dedication as well their ability to accept responsibility for their own healing. Reiki and energetic therapies are not for everyone. Any other benefits or results should be graciously appreciated. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to assist you on your path to wellness.
11. Our Therapists and Instructors have met all requirements for their position according to current guidelines. We also consider it our personal mission to continue to expand ourselves by participating in further course studies as they become available.
12. The Wind Institute accepts Clients ages 18 years and older, or younger with signed parental consent.

Nicole Dockins RMT has seen a surge in clients "seeking strong effective means for relaxation" through reiki therapy. Reiki or energy medicine, is an ancient Tibetan hands-on healing practice that taps into what believers call the Universal Life Force - the energy field that surrounds all beings including humans.
"In our facility, we offer reiki therapy, a therapy specifically designed for relaxation and stress management, among its many other benefits," Dockins said. "To start, make sure you are getting plenty of rest, eat at least three full meals a day and exercise and get fresh air as often as possible. If you are at work and able, leave your office for lunch. Physically walking out of your building and changing scenery is important, even if it is only fir 15 minutes. The only person you can change is you."

Katherine G. Wakefield
Katherine was born and raised in Spartanburg, SC After high school she attended Brevard College and Graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Video. Always curious about how things worked, Katherine tinkered with computers. In 1995 she attended a one day seminar about the Internet. At the end of that day she knew she wanted to learn about computers and web design. While working for WSPA she took more classes and taught herself how to build a computer and teach others how to use it. In 2006 she started her own business The Home Computer Tutor. For 14 years she has been providing technical support, consultation on what to buy and installation help for those needing in-home technical support and training.
In early 2008, Katherine set out on a spiritual journey to find her true purpose and heal herself from the death of her mother. Katherine has always trusted her sense of curiosity, patience and listening skills to aid her in her life. For two years she has traveled, read and learned extensively about alternative healing modalities not only to help in healing herself but found that her teaching computer skills in helping people was just the beginning of her need to help in healing in more profound ways.
In her spiritual journey, Katherine has had training and certifications in Neuro-Lingustic Programming, Hypnotherapy, Pranic Healing, Energy Medicine, Reiki and is now training to be a certified Transformational Life Coach at the Life Coach Institute in Greenville.
Katherine actually found out about Reiki by Googling the term. She liked what she read about it and wanted to learn more. She found Nicole and The Wind Institute listed first from the search words Reiki Spartanburg. After several emails, Katherine called up Nicole and signed up for a Reiki I class. Her experience was so profound she knew this was without a doubt a life changing experience that called her on a deeply spiritual level that she could not deny. She continued her training with Nicole through to Master Practitioner and knew that their paths crossed for a bigger reason.
In late October 2010, Katherine asked to join Nicole in her Reiki practice. They soon found a larger building to accommodate the both of them and spent 2 months renovating, painting and decorating the classroom and therapy rooms.
Katherine offers Reiki Therapy and Life Coaching focusing on the spiritual aspects of healing.
Lillian Bonner, RMP (Reiki Master Practitioner/Healer) joins us as a guest therapist visiting from Christ Church New Zealand. Lillian is trained in Usui Reiki Ryoho and has been training for over 6 years and is currently a Reiki Master Practitioner doing teacher's apprenticship for the last 8 months. Lillian will be with us until December 2011 while she studies Animal Accupuncture. Lillian is also a practicing Veterinarian back home in NZ.
Natalia Munoz and her husband are both Reiki Master Practitioners/ Healers who join us from Colombia, South America. You may recognize Natalia (and her family) from the FREE HUGS campaign launched not-so-long ago in Downtown Greenville. Natalia is (of course) fluent in both Spanish & English and we are looking forward to adding her energy to our sanctuary.
